Electrolux Washer Code E35 – Troubleshooting Guide

The Electrolux washing machine doesn’t sound right. You go to check on it and see an E35 code. While this is aggravating, it is an easy fix when you know what the code means and what you should do next. 

An Electrolux washer error code E35 means the washer drum is overfilling. This can be caused by one of two things. Either the water inlet valve is bad or the pressure sensor is faulty. Fortunately, there is a quick way to determine which is the root of the problem. 

The other possible but unusual problem could be low water pressure from the house. The inlet valve requires at least 20 psi to shut off. Getting less than that from an inadequate water supply means it may not fully close. Water can continue to pour into the washer causing an overflow.

Be sure to turn off the water valves on the main water supply behind the washer to stop the water from overflowing from the washer onto the floor. You will need to turn off both the hot and cold water knobs.

• Remove the plastic end caps on the panel. You will need a screwdriver to remove the screws on the panel. Pull the panel up.
• There is a sensor wire beneath the control panel that controls the washer lid. Unplug it.
• Take the screwdriver and remove both spring clips located on the cabinet. Tilt the cabinet forward, lift it and remove it.
• Next, you need to find the water supply lines on the back of the washer and detach them using the screwdriver. Be sure to have a towel ready to clean up water spilled.
• You will see two wires on the water inlet valve terminals. Pull those off. Remove the mounting screw to get the water valve out.
• Put a clamp on the hose attached to the inlet valve and slid the hose off. There may be some water spilled.
• Put the hose’s end on a new water inlet valve and secure it. Put the valve back in and mount it by resecuring the mounting plate with the screw. Be sure to tighten it. Attached the wire connects to the terminals on the new valves.

• Plug the washer back in and drain the washer by going into the diagnostic cycle to the seventh step where it instructs you how to drain the tub. Turn the program knob seven clicks and it should start draining.

• If the washer fills with water on the diagnostic, you will need to reinstall the mainboard and finish the complete diagnostic test. 
• A stop in running water should lead you to check the cable located between the mainboard and the pressure switch. It should be connected correctly on both ends. 
• You may find it is not connected properly. Reconnect or replace it and then go through the entire diagnostic check. 
• A correctly connected cable should prompt you to then replace the pressure switch as that is the only thing left that could be wrong. 

Run the diagnostic cycle after you replace the switch.

How To Replace a Pressure Switch

Make sure the washer is unplugged. Pull the dial on the water level switch off. It’s the one that selects load size.

• Get into the control panel by removing the plastic end caps with the screwdriver, just as you would replace the inlet switch. Pull the panel out. Take the water level switch cover off. It’s on the control panel’s left side.
• There will be a clear hose beneath it. Remove it and then disconnect all wiring connected to the terminals. 
• Next, remove the screws that secure the switch. You can also twist it on some models.
• Attach the hose and wiring to the new switch, put it back, and secure it with either screws or clamps. 
• Reassemble the control panel. Replace the dial. Plug the washer back into the outlet.
